St. Nersess Online Benefits Summer Conference Participants
During the Post High School Summer Conference, participants had the opportunity to experience one of the educational resources being developed through St. Nersess Online. Arpi N. Bullockian, Chief Program Officer, led an interactive session on Spiritual Public Speaking.
The session began with a presentation on the Sacrament of the Crown / the Armenian Church wedding service. Arpi explained how the service is rich with biblical references, prayers, symbols, and liturgical traditions that reflect the Church’s understanding of Christian marriage. Participants explored the deeper spiritual meaning behind the ceremony and gained a greater appreciation for the theological foundations of Armenian Church worship.
Using the St. Nersess Preaching Program for clergy as a model, Arpi then introduced participants to the principles of incorporating faith and spirituality into public speaking. Through practical exercises, they learned how personal stories, Scripture, and Christian values can be woven into messages intended to inspire and encourage others.
Each participant had the opportunity to role-play as a Best Man or Maid of Honor, delivering a wedding speech before their peers. The exercise challenged them to speak with confidence while thoughtfully incorporating spiritual themes and reflections into their remarks.
