Deacon Michael has been the Deacon-in-Charge at the Armenian Church of the Holy Resurrection since February 1, 2021. He is a graduate of Boston College and graduated from St. Nersess Seminary in 2018.

Reflecting on his  time at St. Nersess, Deacon Michael  stated: “My time as a student at St. Nersess Armenian Seminary was one of the most formative periods of my life. It not only equipped me with the practical skills needed to serve as a minister of the Armenian Church in America, but it also gifted me the opportunity to gaze into the rich world of Armenian theological thought and to gain a real appreciation for the depth of the treasure that is our Sacred Tradition. With this appreciation, I approach my ordination inspired and indescribably humbled in joining the line of clergy who have served the Armenian people before me in such dynamic and meaningful ways, and I ask for all of your prayers that the love of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ might guide all that I do to follow in their steps in my ministry to come.”

Deacon Michael is married to Lucine Sabounjian. His parents are the Rev. Fr. Krikor A. Sabounjian and Yeretsgin LuAnn Sabounjian.
