Faculty Holds Regular Meetings

The faculty of St. Nersess Armenian Seminary held their first meeting of the new year on Monday, February 3.
Some of the topics discussed at their previous meeting in December included their partnership with St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary on offering a Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) Program, future electronic courses, and the courses taught by each faculty member during the Fall semester.
During the February meeting, each of the faculty members described the spring courses they are teaching: Fr. Davit Karamyan is teaching Modern Armenian and Classical Armenian individually and in small groups; Fr. Daniel Karadjian is teaching a liturgical practicum course; Fr. Karekin Kasparian is teaching modern Armenian tutorials; Maestro Khoren Mekanejian is teaching liturgical music one-on-one with each student; Dr. Christopher Sheklian is teaching the course on the Sacraments; and Dr. Roberta Ervine is teaching Classical Armenian, Church history, and Armenian Church Architecture.
The faculty noted the exciting addition of several remote, evening, and special students in their courses, including Julia Hintlian, a PhD candidate at Harvard University, who continues to take classes at St. Nersess.
Special attention was given to the two students who will graduate this May, Dn. Timothy Aznavourian and Dn. Armen Terjimanian, as well as a review of all the seminarians. Finally, the faculty discussed at length a proposed plan, developed by Fr. Mamigon Kiledjian, for a course of study in Music Ministry that would prepare students to serve in parishes or on a diocesan level as instructors of music. It would culminate in a certificate of completion.
The next meeting will be in April.
