Faculty Hold Monthly Meeting Remotely

On April 6, all faculty members of St. Nersess Armenian Seminary held their monthly meeting through an online video platform. Fr. Mardiros Chevian, dean, and Dr. Roberta Ervine participated in the meeting onsite.

The instructors discussed how they have continued to teach during the unprecedented previous few weeks of the pandemic and that only the method of delivery has changed. Because the seminary was already set up to offer instruction remotely, the transition to an entirely online platform has been almost seamless.

The faculty discussed how St. Vladimir’s Seminary is also offering its academic courses online. Both St. Nersess and St. Vladimir’s Seminaries have postponed their May graduation ceremonies until the Fall. Our graduates will still receive their diplomas in May – Dn. Armen Terjimanian and Dn. Timothy Aznavourian – will receive their MDiv degrees from St. Nersess and St Vladimir’s, while Andrew Kayaian will receive his MA degree from St. Vladimir’s.

Other topics included a review and evaluation of students, including full-time, “special” and distance learners; applicants and potential students; St. Vladimir’s faculty discussions; and planned remote intensive courses for students, clergy and the general public. The faculty’s next meeting will be in May.
