Dean Visits the Western Diocese

Over the weekend of September 25–28, Fr. Mardiros Chevian, dean, traveled to the Western Diocese with the consent of Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, Primate of the Diocese and Vice President of the St. Nersess Board of Directors.

Fr. Mardiros began his visit by officiating at the weekly Thursday service at St. Gregory the Illuminator Armenian Church in Pasadena, where he also offered the reflection. The following days were filled with celebration as he joined the community for the 60th Anniversary of Hye Camp. The camp’s anniversary commemoration began on Friday with a gathering of more than 360 people at the home of Margaret and David Mgrublian. Margaret serves as a member of the seminary’s Board of Directors.

A special Hokehankist service was offered on Saturday evening for the souls of Archbishop Vatche Hovsepian, camp founder, and Archbishop Torkom Manoogian, as well as for beloved Hye Camp benefactors and camp contributors. The service was followed by a joyful gala banquet, where clergy, alumni, and friends gathered to honor this milestone. Fr. Mardiros delivered the invocation.

On Sunday, Der Mardiros gave the homily during the Divine Liturgy at St. Gregory Church at the request of Fr. Sarkis Petoyan, pastor and seminary alumnus. During his stay, he met with three student candidates interested in seminary studies.
