Dean Attends ACYO-WD Spiritual Weekend
Over the October 11-13 weekend, Fr. Mardiros Chevian, dean, was invited to serve at the ACYO Western Diocese’s Cultural and Spiritual Retreat held at the Archbishop Vatche Hovsepian Camp (Hye Camp) in CA. The weekend was dedicated to fostering a sense of spiritual growth, cultural engagement, and personal enrichment for young Armenians aged 12-30.

Under the auspices of His Eminence Archbishop Hovnan Derderian, Primate of the Western Diocese and Vice-president of the St. Nersess Board of Directors, 85 participants including Central Council members, engaged in meaningful spiritual discussions throughout the weekend. Fr. Mardiros Chevian and Dn. Garen Hamamjian, 2024 seminary graduate, led discussions and Bible study, while Fr. Gomidas Zohrabian, a seminary alumnus, made a presentation on the Divine Liturgy. The retreatants also participated in twice-daily worship services where the Very Rev. Fr. Yeremia Abgaryan, Diocesan Youth Director, presided. On the final day, Badarak was celebrated at the campsite by Fr. Mardiros who also preached the sermon. By the end of the weekend, the youth left the retreat with a renewed sense of spiritual grounding, stronger friendships, and a deeper appreciation for their spirituality. The experience is a unique blend of introspection, joy, and cultural fulfillment.
