Dean and Seminarians Visit St. Sahag & St. Mesrob Armenian Church
On April 1-2, Fr. Mardiros Chevian and the seminarians traveled to St. Sahag & St. Mesrob Armenian Church in Wynnewood, PA. During their stay, they had the opportunity to tour the historic sights of Philadelphia as well as a visit to the statue of Mher, with Lisa Kailian, Parish Council member. Later on Saturday, they gathered for dinner at Lisa’s house with ACYOA Central Council member Andrew Yenicag and young members of the community. On Palm Sunday morning, Fr. Mardiros was the guest preacher and homilist at St. Sahag & St. Mesrob and was assisted by the seminarians. He shared with the congregants during his sermon how Jesus triumphantly entered into Jerusalem to the joyous shouts of “Hosanna!” before the dark events of the week came to pass; he reminded them that those who endure with Jesus through death will rise with Him in life everlasting.

Following Badarak, there was a procession from the Church to Memorial Hall with palms held high. They attended the ACYOA Palm Sunday luncheon and program where Der Hayr first performed a parish home blessing. During the program, Fr. Mardiros presented information on the seminary and showed the video 12 Vocations. Seminarian Arman Shirikyan shared a few words about his experience as a St. Nersess student and Dn. Garen Hamamjian sang for the guests. The seminary is grateful to the St. Sahag & St. Mesrob parishioners for their warm welcome and to Sonia Placido, Youth Director, for organizing their stay.
