Annual Lenten Retreat

Annual Lenten Retreat

The seminarians gathered on Enders Island in Mystic, CT, for their annual Lenten retreat, led by Dn. Yervant Kutchukian, Spiritual Director, and Professor Roberta Ervine. The theme was “Growing your Oil: Being Living Lamps” drawn from the parable of the foolish and wise virgins. Retreatants had a hands-on opportunity to fill and light clay oil lamps from the Holy Land as they learned how to fill up their own oil reserves to be ready for Christ. The participants included Dn. Garen Hamamjian, Sdn. Karo Boyadzhyan, Sdn. Zareh Mirzayan, Sdn. Arin Parsanian, and Sdn. Arman Shirikyan.

The weekend’s activities concluded on Sunday with services at the Armenian Church of the Holy Resurrection, in New Britain, CT. They were warmly welcomed by parish priest and seminary alumnus Fr. Haroutiun Sabounjian and his wife, Yn. Lucine and the Holy Resurrection community. The St. Nersess seminarians served at the altar and in the choir. Sdn. Karo Boyadzhyan offered the message, exhorting his listeners to use their time and talents for the Lord in accordance with the Gospel of the day. Following the services, the seminarians enjoyed the warm hospitality of the parish at fellowship hour where parishioners had a chance to meet and speak with the seminarians and to learn about the mission of St. Nersess.
