A Reflection by V. Rev. Fr. Harutyun Damadyan

Hayr Harutyun is from the Armenian Patriarchate of Constantinople and has been residing and studying at St. Nersess since September.

CELEBRATION AT ST. NERSESS SEMINARY

St. Nersess Seminary is a wonderful complex, in which St. Hagop Chapel has an important role. During the week, worship services are held here with the participation of the seminarians. There is a monastic atmosphere in this small chapel. The saints day feast of St. James of Nisibis (St. Hagop) last month was more significant, because it was the day of the annual celebration of the St. Hagop.

This year, I had the pleasure to participate in the celebration of this chapel’s name day and share the joy with the beloved congregation of seminarians, faculty, friends, and family. A group of seminarians sang the hymns of the Divine Liturgy, and their singing was good. The atmosphere of prayer was expressive. The celebration was even more joyful because student Daniel Bullock was ordained as a subdeacon. It was a joy for all participants to witness this moment, including family, friends and teachers of the young subdeacon. Therefore, it is our duty to pray, so God will strengthen everyone under the roof of St. Nersess.

I continue to pray for St. Nersess Seminary, the dean, the teachers, the students, and all of my friends, so everyone succeeds in their spiritual life. I will remember the impressive gathering through its festive atmosphere. I was lucky to be the guest celebrant on such an occasion.

ԱՂՕԹՔ Ս. ՆԵՐՍԷՍ ՃԵՄԱՐԱՆԻ ՄԷՋ

Ս. Ներսէս Ճեմարանը, որ ունի հիանալի համալիր մը, Ս. Յակոբ Մատուռը ունի իր կարեւոր նշանակութիւնը։ Այստեղ է, որ շաբթուան մէջ ժամերգութիւններ կը կատարուին աշակերտներու մասնակցութեամբ։ Վանական մթնոլորտ մը կը տիրապետէ փոքրիկ մատուռի շուրջ։ Իսկ, Ս. Յակոբ Մծբնայ Հայրապետի տօնը առաւել եւս տարբեր նշանակութիւն կը շահի այստեղ, քանի որ մատուռի տարեկան տօնախմբութեան օրն է։

Այս տարի ուրախութիւնը ունեցայ այս մատուռի տօնախմբութեան մասնակցելու եւ ներկաներու ուրախութեան բաժնեկից դառնալու։ Խումբ մը աշակերտներ կատարեցին երգեցողութիւնները եւ պէտք է խոստովանիմ, թէ՝ բաւականին լաւ էր իրենց երգեցողութիւնը։ Ո՛չ միայն սոսկ երգեցողութիւն էր այս մէկը, այլ՝ զգալի էր աղօթքի մթնոլորտը։

Տօնախմբութիւնը առաւել եւս ուրախութեամբ կը տօնուէր, քանի Տանիէլ Դպիրը, Ս. Ներսէս Ճեմարանէն զարգացած ըլլալով, արժանի կը դառնար կիսասարկաւագութեան ձեռնադրութեան։ Բոլոր ներկաներու համար ուրախութիւն էր վայելելը այս պահը, քանի որ անոնք ընտանիք, բարեկամ եւ ուսուցիչ էին երիտասարդ կիսասարկաւագին։ Ուստի, բոլորիս պարտականութիւնն է աղօթել որ Աստուած զօրացնէ բոլորը։

Իսկ ես անձամբ կը շարունակեմ աղօթել, Ս. Ներսէս Ճեմարանին, տեսուչին, դասատուներուն, աշակերտութեան եւ բոլոր բարեկամներուս համար, որպէսզի Աստուած զօրացնէ բոլորը հոգւով եւ գործոց բարեաց յաջողութիւն պարգեւէ բոլորին։ Այս առումով, տօնական մթնոլորտէն միտքս կը մնայ զուարթ հաւաքականութեան մը տօնական խանդավառութիւնը։ Կը կարծեմ, թէ՝ բախտ էր այստեղ գտնուիլ նման առիթով։
